About this Apple TV The Apple TV 4K (2017, A10, Black Siri Remote) was introduced on September 12, 2017. It appeared after the Apple TV (4th gen), looking the same but internally totally different. With its updated internals, the A10 can support 4K (2160p) and HDR (High Dynamic Range) movies when connected to a television. The Apple TV 4K is not only a streaming box but can also function as a music player and a basic console. The user can display digital data from their iOS device or several partner sources. There are a lot of video and audio formats supported : H.264/HEVC SDR video up to 2160p, 60 fps, HEVC Dolby Vision /HDR10 up to 2160p, H.264 Baseline Profile level 3.0 or lower with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats, MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 fps, AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats. Audio formats also come with HE-AAC (V1), AAC (up to 320 Kbps), protected AAC, MP3 (up to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Apple Lossless, FLAC, AIFF, and WAV; AC-3 (Dolby Digital 5.1), E-AC-3 (Dolby Digital Plus 7.1), and Dolby Atmos. Supported photo formats are HEIF, JPEG, GIF, and TIFF.
